The partner of Claire Austin — a respected marketing executive — is assisting police as investigations continue into her tragic death caused by “catastrophic” injuries sustained after she ran through a glass sliding door at her Sydney home.

Emergency Services Called After Disturbance

Neighbours in Randwick alerted emergency services early Saturday morning after hearing shouting and loud banging from Ms Austin’s apartment. Paramedics arrived to find the 38-year-old severely injured, with a partially severed arm.

She was rushed to St Vincent’s Hospital in critical condition and placed in a coma. Despite medical efforts, Ms Austin succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday, three days after the incident.

Partner Questioned by Police

Claire’s partner, Lee Loughlin, 44, was questioned at the scene by New South Wales Police. He allegedly told officers the pair had argued before the tragic incident. Loughlin was later admitted to a mental health facility, according to The Daily Telegraph.

An apprehended violence order (AVO) was filed against Mr Loughlin on Ms Austin’s behalf. The matter was scheduled to be heard at Waverley Local Court this week.

Police Launch Investigation

NSW Police have established Strike Force Lydoch to investigate the circumstances around Ms Austin’s death. A spokesperson confirmed, “No arrests have been made at this time.”

Partner’s Online Presence Disappears

Loughlin, a British-born recruitment consultant who has lived in Sydney for 12 years, co-founded the Lead Group and tech start-up Vidaura. In the days following the incident, his profiles have been removed from both companies’ websites.

Claire Austin’s Career and Life Remembered

Originally from the UK, Claire Austin moved to Australia around a decade ago and became known for her vibrant personality and professional success. She worked on major projects including SXSW Sydney and was most recently with the award-winning agency The Misfits.

According to friends, Ms Austin had been preparing to relocate to Queensland before her death.

Loved Ones Mourn the Loss

Family members rushed from the UK to be by Claire’s side, reportedly arriving just hours before she passed away. Friends have remembered her as “fun, happy, and beautiful,” with one saying, “She was the light of our lives.”
